About Me

Welcome to my corner of cyberspace. Would you like a cookie?

I’m Sophia Chen, a freelance science writer based in Columbus, Ohio. I mostly cover physics, space, AI, and anything involving numbers.

My writing has been featured in Wired, Science, New Scientist, Physics World, and more. You can also find my words spoken in Physics Girl, a YouTube channel of more than 1.4 million subscribers. In 2015, I received the AAAS Mass Media fellowship, and in the not-so-bygone past, I was a physicist. I have a master’s degree in physics from the University of Arizona, and I’m an alum of Oberlin College. In 2012, I received a Fulbright scholarship to study air pollution in China.

For tips, comments, or project offers, you can contact me at schen311 at gmail dot com. For less name-dropping, follow me on Twitter @sophurky.
